Hmm... lost a lot of weight. I went into hospital a fairly sturdy 14st 6lbs and weighed myself this morning for the first time since.
Ive been back at home a week now and eating all kinds of top quality healthy food, so you can imagine my surprise when I weighed in at 13st 4lbs. Yikes! down 16lbs in a little over 16 days!!!.
My first reaction, alarm!
My second reaction, "calm down Adam you got a number, thats all"
My third reaction, 13st 4lbs is a pretty healthy weight for my height. I have probably used a lot of energy dealing with the sepsis and maybe processing all the medications that have been going into me.

What to do, what to do?
1) Get more information, take to Google and see if this kind of weight loss is par for the course
Turns out its quite common for sepsis survivors to lose a lot of weight, the fatalities dont lose much weight they just perish.
2) Obvious action, eat more calorie dense food. Based on those numbers the maths is easy, I must be in deficit by at least 3000 calories per day.
Update
After writing the first draught of this blog post, this eating plan is working, I'm up to 13st 8lbs and feeling better everyday.
How can this account of events be of use to you? Well there is of course my story of recovering from sepsis that could be useful to someone you know. I hope my philosophy and approach is also helpful. In this case I acknowledge my thoughts and feelings, then apply some rational critical thinking to the matter in hand, do some information gathering and take immediate pragmatic logical action to move in what I hope is a positive direction. Less drama, more action. Plenty of time to panic later.
