Im borrowing a bit of space on the 100daystohealthy blog to showcase an art project.....
On turning 50 I wanted a theme to mark the passing of this moment.
That thought became a photographic mosaic called 50 years of love
I sought to focus on, symbolise and acknowledge the many flavours of love I had enjoyed in my 50 years alive.
Technically how the image was created
The master image is a macro photograph of my left iris, the window to the soul. This image has been solarised in Photoshop and then recomposed using photo-mosaic software. The final image has 5000 pixels which were reproduced from about 250 different photo tiles. Each tile represents a love story of one kind or another. The concept and technological creation of the final piece was quite straightforward, however the labour of love became the generation and selection of tiles that would work well together and adequately do justice to the idea.
There are plenty of photo mosaic programs to choose from in the end I settled on AndreaMosaic

Artist Statement
I wrote a verse to capture the essence of the piece...
You cant take it with you, so the cliche goes
But when its all stripped away maybe just love remains
Why then bother with the impermanent, the frippery and the frivolous
Better to know the true treasure that will endure.
To love then, the highest currency
The only worthwhile medium of exchange
The love of friends and family
To forgive oneself for love lost and treasure new love found
Love in flaming passion and love unrequited
Love in the sweat of your brow and the toil of your hands
Loving attention to detail and creations born of love
Love received from a stranger or from closer to home
Love in far flung places and quiet moments
Simple pleasures, love in the glory and innocence of nature
Love in sound vibration and artful dodges
